    I totally agree that leaves are old hat, but they are still the mainstay of the very popular dual cab market, so for holden to have them 15 years ago isnt quite such a bad criminal act.

    Its way more criminal that so many are still doing it.

    Leaf springs as a general rule have a much better load carrying capability that coils and given we are talking about utes (ATM) it does sort of make sense.

    It is a really nice car, but I can't for the life of me imagine why it was released in the state of tune that it was. It has a big hole in power delivery between the first and second turbo operation. Fixable with a tune, but I don't want to spend the cash. Also needs 98 fuel or it pings badly.

    It's not that they are old hat, it's more that they have different characteristics to coil springs. By mixing both on one vehicle, the suspension can't be easily tuned to behave in a consistent manner under different loads.
