This is absolutely ridiculous both drivers are in the wrong, could have been easly resolved with common sense and courtesy instead they waste so much time.

I have not watched the tape, as I cannot get to to play, all I get is something about the royal children’s hospital. but having driven for many years on single lane roads where there is no room to pass, it is up to the car that has the least amount of reversing to do to go back, unless of course you throw in snow and ice into the mix, then it get complicated. If a car sees that the other is engaged in a passage then they must wait until the passage is clear.
As for the mention of chivalry, that is dead buried cremated etc. The last time I held a door open for a lady who was coming in after me, she gave me a lecture not treating women as inferior people etc. So guess what happens now? If it’s a bloke I hold the door, if it’s a lady I just let it close in front of her.
When i was a kid we lived in Tuggerah lakes NSW , there was a single lane bridge about 1k in length from one side of the Entrance to the other , when bored we used to go over to the bridge and walk out to the middle and watch the arguments and if we were luky a punch up when drivers met in the middle and niether would reverse back off the bridge .
All the fun stopped when they put traffic lights in .
The number of times the male driver mentioned that he "had it all on dashcam" leads me to believe that he thinks that is what proves he is in the right.
I spent a very short time driving a small motorhome around Inverness where all the streets seemed to be that narrow. In spite of the fact that I was looking well ahead so that I could pull over if I needed to to let a vehicle pass in the opposite direction, I was never quick enough. On every occasion, the driver coming the other way pulled over before I had the chance to do so. Obviously they are used to doing that and think nothing of it.
I find it hard to understand why both of those drivers in Melbourne were so insistent that they were in the right. Is it really worth getting your knickers in a knot over?

I clicked on it but then got a sick feeling in my stomach and there's no way I want to watch that, the fact that there was a stand off at all in a street and these people thought there was one of them in the right and one in the wrong just means that they're both idiots and they are both exactly what's wrong with people who drive on our roads.
YOU ARE BOTH IN THE WRONG AND YOU ARE BOTH MORONS AND I DON'T EVEN HAVE TO WATCH THE TAPE TO KNOW THIS![]()
What a pair of self entitled ******, They Both had room to move over and they both would benefit from a good clip under the ear.
What I can't understand is why on earth is parking allowed on both sides of such a narrow street in the first place.

Yep. I noticed that too.
Here, especially around the school at pickup time, some of the streets are only wide enough for one car. You duck in when you can to maintain traffic flow. The alternative (which is what this woman chose) is to waste a lot of time sitting around in the middle of the street.
I can't believe the stupidity of some people tho!
it says in the write up. Seriously!?“Looks like the guy with the dash cam was going faster than 40km/h as the street was marked plus didn’t slow down when the road work guys were working,” one woman wrote in response to the vision.
Some folks just dive into a debate so blindly one eyed, they don't have the capacity to reason.
Since when has 32km/h(guys max speed for a brief moment) been faster than 40km/h(speed limit).
Definitely the woman's fault here.
She came into the impass with the attitude that it was her right to have been given right of way.
Just before she had the space to move left for a moment or two, instead of the common sense approach of moving left where she had room, she decided instead to arrogantly flash her headlights to demand the oncoming driver to move over, where at that point he didn't have the room on his left to move into.
If it were me in the guys situation I wouldn't have given way for the simple reason. At the point where he'd have to give way(pull to the left) there were too many cars parked on the RHS of the street, if any other car had entered the street or were following behind, she'd have no room to pull to her left, and those cars wouldn't have had any room to move to their left either .. so SHE would/could have created a total impasse, which she would then need to reverse some 50m or so, instead of just a couple as she then did.
The situation has nothing to do with sexism, or road laws .. simply arrogance on the woman's part in the belief that she had some birthright to use the road as she pleased.
This is just a typical example of standard Melbourne driver arrogance in that they believe they have the right to do as they please.
Actually, if it were me in the guys position, I'd have stopped right there where he did, pulled out my rollies, took the time to carefully roll one up, exit the car, walk up to hers and describe the error of her way .. basically taking up as much of her time as possible!
From the audio off his dash cam, he was far more polite than I'd have been towards such an arrogant moron!
@ trout1105 .. this is a typical South Yarra residential side street .. I can't ever recall driving one that isn't designed like that.
Arthur.
