Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus replacing ATR and hopefully on our horizon

    https://www.pirelli.com/tire/us/en/n...017-sema-show/

The Scorpion All Terrain Plus is to replace the ATR for North America which I assume excludes Europe but hopefully includes Australia as the tyre appears to overcome my dislikes of the ATR - the half depth voids between outer blocks and too fine a pattern generally. Current size list includes useful 18" and 20" sizes, with 275/55R20 useful for me. Now the wait begins to see if my current tyres can be made to last.

I agree, the LTX Force looks useful except that it isn't available in any size that I can currently use.

I had ATRs on a D2 after which I vowed not to buy them again but then fitted them to a D4 due to the lack of a reasonable alternative, only to be disappointed in them again.

Pirelli Aust have advised that some sizes are being released in Oz this month but some others including 275/55R20 have now been added to the list for Aug/Sept availability here.

These are showing on the Pirelli website now as available in 275 55 20, Bob Janes and Tyrepower also have them as available in that size.

Pirelli's new ATR is already available at Bob Janes Perth. Looked at it but decided on Hankooks, 255x55x19

Thanks. I checked the Pirelli website only a few days ago and they were still showing 4th qtr availability but available now is in line with their earlier advice to me. I notice that the other 20" sizes have disappeared from the list.

Edit. I can only find Pirelli ATR in 275/55R20 on the BobJane and Tyrepower sites though.

    Just found the BobJane listing.

The D5 size 255/60R19XL with LI 113 that I've been hoping will become available is now listed in the US with Pirelli stock number 2685600.

I had an opportunity to check-out these in 255/55R19 today. The sidewalls are mostly quite thick but just below the tread in the short gaps between the side raised sections, the sidewall is on the thin side. The tread is very wide for this size which will afford more protection than some other brands or its predecessor. The tyres are destined for a local farmer's Amarok.

I'm hoping that the lower speed rated and higher load rated 275/55R20 and with slightly taller sidewalls is thicker in the small exposed gaps. The pattern indeed has full-depth voids and I'm looking forward to replacing my BFG KO2s with a set of these, mostly for less resonance and a slightly softer ride.

I really like the ATR, mine are still going strong and looking good after 10 years and have been a great highway tyre which is what I wanted. The new All terrain as a replacement looks a lot more BFG AT and off road orientated.
    Cheers
