Had success with Derris dust, applied at night, red LED or red cellophane to see what is happening.
One application killed nearly all activity, next night, the final blow, total death.

Thanks guys, I'll have another crack again soon.
Biggest problem of course is trying to actually get to them. They're under false floorboards with that fake grass crap over it. Having washed some of the dirt/grime whatever has built up over the years off whilst I was cleaning up around the edges, seems it has opened up some more cracks around the place.
Might have to bite the bullet and rip up the grass and hope for the best. [bighmmm]
Gav, I got, or used the main and what I believe was the only entrance/exit at the time, but with the flow of water today and now having stuff move around, I think they have managed to find other exits. At the time, I thought I used a fair bit of stuff, as there looked to be plenty of white powder around where I was working. But alas,, maybe I didn't use enough. Plenty more there now, and when I tackle it again, I'll get another bottle of powder to use as well as what I have left, which is about one third of the bottle.
Looks like an every day Euro wasp to me Chops. One way to tell if bee or wasp is to grab it and hold it in your hand, if it only stings you once its a bee and will die. Id it;'s a wasp it will repeatedly sting you and live until you kill it.[bigrolf]
I had on get caught in my hair when I had it, and getting stung 3 times in the head, it was not nice experience.[bigsad][bawl]
Get them at night when they are all in there holes and apply powder at the entrances.
I have had great success at dusk with nests in embankments. I pour 1/2 a cup of petrol down the hole and set alight with a match, the explosion kills them stone dead every time[biggrin]
As the weather gets colder the majority of the nest will die off but next season's queens will hold up somewhere to hybernate over winter. The problem is that wasps are changing and where the "hive" usually dies in winter there have been more instances of the whole nests surviving if in a very sheltered spot.
That would kill me. Their poison affects people in different ways, and it is cumulative. Do you know what an Epi Pen is?Quote:

They need to come in contact with the powder so sealing yhe entrance is not advisable. The wasps entering will take the powder in and infect the others. But having said yhat the season is almost over and the only survivors will be the hibernating queens.
We had a nest in the property next door, I saw the neighbors kid stupidly bashing the nest with a loarge pole. after a little while the wasps had had enough and the swarm chased him.Quote:
