If silly Australian voters can name a Sydney harbour ferry Boaty McBoatface then why can't the equally silly Europeans vote an even sillier Israeli chicken dance song the best in Europe? Makes sense to me

I like chickens. Hard to take it seriously though. Did the Israelis run a particularly effective voting scam, like the Russians usually do?

SBS has been an associate member of the European Broadcasting Union for years (since 1979), and prior to that the ABC has been a member since 1950. I do however, find it amusing that one of the reasons Australia has claimed to be allowed to compete in Eurovision is because of our large European expatriate community... then we send competitors of Malaysian (Guy Sebastian), Korean (Dami Im) and Aboriginal descent (Isaiah & Jessica).

I haven’t heard the winning song yet...but when broken down i believe it does have a lot good messages in it...not sure if this has weight from the judges.

I love eurovision. I have always watched it since I got hooked.
I always listen to the songs a few months before eurovision is on.
This was instantly the worst song among them.
I couldn't believe a song like this won.
She made chicken noises and I think actions, maybe we should have sent some one from play school to represent AUS instead.
I am slowly giving up on eurovision as about 4 of the last 5 winning songs have been terrible.

So yes they did get it wrong choosing Israel.

For Me personally Eurovision holds very little appeal as it has little to do with mainstream music as it is more of an "Arty Farty" affair as far as I am concerned.
I doubt that many of the winners of this contest would go on with a professional career in music and especially Not that stupid "Chicken Dance" song, I can't imagine anyone paying good money to watch some fat sheila from Israel sing that.
