There are some mannered poeple out there, but they seem to be the older generation

I noticed there are some kind people out there that offer to assist , but i notice it's seems to be older people not the younger ones.
I was down at the lacal supermarket today, at the checkout line a lady and her daughter saw that I had a walking stick in one hand and a shopping basket in the other, She bea me to the line, but looked at me and offered her place so I could go first. After I unloaded my groceries on the counter the dame lady took by empty shopping basket and put it away for me.

If I am in a supermarket aisle and and drop my walking stick, a few seconds later before I get a chance to bend down to pick it up, some one has it to hand it back to me. Again it's older people.

I hobble along with my stick and find approaching young people usually high school students and mainly girls will walk in groups of 3 abreast, they will walk towards you and stand there ground and it is me that must detour around them, totally opposite when this happens with older people, they see you have a stick and will walk around you.
Recently I was hobbling along with my stick on a narrow foot path on the way to a a pathology, 2 high school student ( girls) approaching me walked side by side, they would not budge, and one move behind the other v so we could pass, I had to walk in the gutter kerb to pass . It never bothered me before, it is an observation I find more and more each day in my life as an older pedestrian with an affliction who must be a nuisance to the younger generation.

As a generalisation Mario, I reckon you are right...... but don't write off the younger ones - there are definitely plenty around that have manners, respect their elders and are only too happy to try and assist those that need it.

How do I know this?....... I have two of them at home - and many of their friends are the same.

it used to drive me nuts, but now i do what my wife has been doing for ages, i just stop stand and look at them and they go around

on bribie island, it is anyone over 50 that seems to have little to no consideration for other people, esp those with some sort of inpediment to moving easily.

i hate shopping there and avoid it as much as possible.

Age has never been a barrier to rudeness and ignorance and there are some ignorant arseholes out there in all the age groups.
The best we can do is to bring our kids up in such a way that they don't join this motley mob

I think they should stop the concessional fares to kids on trains and buses, as they hardly ever give up their seats for the elderly, pregnant, disabled, etc.

I catch the bus on an irregularly peak hour in the mornings and on the 330 and 331 the kids seems to be well drilled and always give up their seats.....no doubt some don’t.

I still give up my seat for women (pregnant or not) and the elderly even though I am now 64 myself.

Maybe I was being a bit harsh, it's also that they don't give up their seats for full fare paying passengers, which is what I thought the concession was about.

Pensioners get a concession as well, You don't expect these people to give up their seats.
