Was the preferred route back in the day daughter taught at Gayndah. Through Goomeri, turn left, relax. Good drive, lots of hidden gems , if you took the time to look. Crayfish in the many little creeks, not so good in the wet, some interesting hill climbs and going down in the wet was also interesting. Can't see it being any different then than now.
Kinbombi Falls worth a stop if they're flowing.
I drove this road up as far as Gallangowan last year to watch a rally. This was in my 1972 Peugeot 504, after ex tropical cyclone Debbie came down the coast. Road was rough, but still easily driveable in 2WD.
