Is it worth getting a dashcam?

    A fortnight ago I bought a dashcam.

Today, while I was stopped at roadworks, the car in front of me suddenly decided to go backwards, covering the three metres to me and stopping when his boot hit the bullbar on the 110. Fortunately he was going slowly, and there was little damage to his car - the white paint brushed off mine. The reason he backed was because the one in front of him did, having apparently decided he needed room to change lanes (he didn't stop). The traffic controller said he had notified police and would make a report. He said he had the number of the other car.

We exchanged details and I mentioned my dashcam should have a record of it (I haven't checked yet). I see the main advantage of the camera would be if he decides to change to the view that I ran into the back of him.

Now that you have told him of the dash cam recording, he won't be changing his story.
Yes John, they are absolutely worth having. Your dash cam could save you a good deal more than it cost.
One of the points they stressed most when I was doing my marine qualifications was: Always record as much evidence as you can.
    Cheers, Billy.
    Keeping it simple is complicated.

Just make sure you get the relevant video off the camera card before it records over it. Mine operates on about a 4 hour cycle so I carry a couple of spare SD cards in the car.

Um ...... Its "just a car" .... So long as the boss women is ok .................. who cares. I can always fix or replace any car (no matter how rare it is). I reckon it would be far more likely I'd bend one of the cars than my wife (something to do with me having far to much confidence in my abilities ... versus her not having enough in hers, so she is far more careful).

All good and well for you mate, but my wife cant drive worth a ****! She will say it her self.
I just asked her now how many of my cars she has destroyed, she said 5 but i suspect its a couple more than that.
Its a running joke in our house. Thankfully now she only drives 4x4s with bullbars. She drives off road pretty good though i have to say.

    YouTube

Had more videos of her off road but cant for the life of me remember where i posted them or which channel.....

    By two, John.
It looks as though my wife will now require one in her car as part of "Organisational Policy" as she uses her vehicle for travel between offices, meetings and so on.

I must lead a dull life.
I have had one in my car for 3+ years without an incident of note.
I have never even taken out the SD card to look at it on the computer.
I don't know why you would need lots of SD cards as they over"print" the SD progressively every 4?hours, and do it in 5 minute segments.
    Mine does anyway.
