I agree that violence is NOT the best way to solve the worlds problems and that it is a last resort response But sometimes the actions of others leave us No choice in the matter.
I also agree thar War is a terrible waste of life and resources.
Now back to old mate and his bucket of excrement.
The people that the memorial is dedicated to did this bloke Absolutely NO harm and for him to desecrate it is simply vandalism and is so verry wrong on many levels and he does deserve to be punished and a fat lip/thick ear is verry appropriate in his case.
A lot of talk of violence here. Over what is ultimately something small.
I see this all the time people talk like this.... YEA I WOULD BEAT HIM UP blah blah.
Often by people who have never had hand to hand combat and would not even know if they could throw down or not.
Anyone notice how rare this actually happens? I bet this kid will do his time without anyone attacking him over this despite half of Australia claiming they will.
Might have a couple of people walk past and say something but no action. No violence.
What does that tell me? People are full of ****. People talk smack but cant back up what they say. This pattern exists, is real and i see it often in my day to day life.
Anyone ever notice at courts even when people kill there loved ones there is rarely if ever any family member throwing down.
And whats even worse is often these same people use words like Coward. When i was a kid i was taught that word to mean something completely different to what it obviously does today.
For example, i dont see what this kid did as cowardly at all. Stupid, disrespectful and what not yes but not cowardly.
To sit on a pc and claim you will beat up someone you dont even know and dont know there skill set is infact what i consider Cowardly.
Sometimes people react in all sorts of different ways when confronted with something that is totally abhorrent to them and is usualy a first reaction , of course when the dust settles this then turns to a more civil reaction which is why people at court do not throw down as you say . But i bet initially ther reactions were totally different .
I would be interested to see a social experiment.
Under controlled allowed situations. Get someone strong looking to get some fake paint and paint a memorial while a heap of people where there in Australia.
I think the reaction by 75% would be to ignore it totally. 20% would watch but say nothing and just frown apon the person, perhaps recording on there phone. The other 5% would gob off.
Honestly thats what i expect would happen. I dont like it but thats just how i see the country now days.
The word staunch has GONE!! And all it encompassed.

I agree that this country is not what it used to be and i find myself at odd,s with it at times , maybe the people on here are the remnents of the Staunch or the old brigade , at least i hope so .
