Latest Australian Antarctic magazine June 2018

Here's the latest edition of the Australian Antarctic newsletter . We have a bit of a heatwave over here at the moment. It's touching 30 degrees C in some places. They are already worried about water supplies. Hard to believe that not so long ago we had swollen rivers washing away roads and bridges. So I am going to open the fridge door and sit in front of the fridge and read this latest edition of the magazine. I always enjoy it....the magazine, not sitting in front of an open fridge.

    Thirty! Pfft!

It talks of the first expedition to Heard Island.
“These early expeditioners faced harsh conditions with rain three days out of four, temperatures hovering between -1°C and 5°C and an average wind speed of about 30 kilometres per hour,”
Does that cool you down? No? have a look at this weekend's temperatures at Mt. Hotham.

Ah yes, the cold, the wind and the rain, I'm missing it already. With a bit of luck it will be back next week.....

    Thanks for this.
A mate has the Australian Antarctic Medal, which he received in '89. Some funny stories from there!
