red bellied black snake and brown snake....?
or are there more.....know the correct info will give me more confidence in the bush....</span>

Hell's Bells, Batman! If it was wider than the road out the front, how long was it? Working on a length to width ratio of, say, 30:1 and assuming a road width of 8 metres - that makes it 240 metres long! 8O 8O 8O

And you know you can't trust anyone with narrow set eyes, and this bloke had 'em....

Affirmative on the python /carpet, negative on the 2 snake.
Those two are just the most harmful/poisonous.
Snakes on the whole are not aggressive and will not generally "go you" unless cornered, pestered or ****ed off. Taipans (diamond shaped headed bastards)and sea snakes are prob. the most aggressive/moody.
Take comfort that in 90% of cases, they know you're there long before you know where they are, and they generally don't care

Zook Australia has 8 of the 10 most venomous snakes in the world, I know because the tv told me so. They said that the most venomous and aggressive was the fierce snake. It is black and very territorial so will attack rather than slither the other way. Luckinly they are found in the more hot dry areas so inland nad in the northern parts of NT, WA and QLD.

I dont want to run into one of those guys.

Unfortuanately most snakes in Australia have toxins of some sort. Python bites while not venomous hurt like hell and can becom infected easily. Normally they are fairly dosile. Most snake bites approx 80% occur while people are trying to kill them. The rest from stepping on them or other causes.
There are numerous snakes in Australia that can kill or make you very sick.
Taipans, Brown snakes (eastern, weastern, king, Gwarda), Dugites, Death Adders, Tigers, Fierce Snake (most deadly but rarely seen or reports of snake bites from them) etc are fairly dangerous and will require urgent medical care.
Black snakes including the Red Bellied Black, Copperheads, Whip Snakes etc are less venomous but still may make you sick.
Snake bites are relatively rare in the scheme of things and I do not regard it as a huge worry.
If you see them do not panic, they will sense panic and it may make them panic. Do not corner. By all means observe them, this is actually good practice as you can see where they are heading.
The majority of snakes will avoid you if you give them room. I get sick of dorks over here calling every snake they see a Dugite and panicking. Most of the time the so called Dugites on the coast are Tigers.
Redback spider bites are more of a danger to Australians than snake bite.
