Except my wife....when i was away she told me her car was a little noisy so I told her to top the oil up. 4lts of oil and a new engine later...... when I got back I showed her what a dipstick is and held a mirror to her face bahahaha poor girl.

When my sisters children were fairly small they had a "school car" to drive to the gate to catch the bus (about 6km). Driven by the eldest (15). I happened to be visiting on one occasion, when my sister commented "About time the kids were here". About twenty minutes later the eight year old boy arrived, very hot and bothered on foot. He said his sisters were walking along the road, he took a shortcut. They hit a bump with a bit of a bang in the creek crossing, and a short while later "this green light came on". A bit after that the engine stopped and could not be restarted...........
My eldest, a girl and the first from both side of the family to go to uni, arrived one Sunday morning, as usual, to fix the car and raid the fridge.
She asked me to look at her car as it was making a strange noise. A quick start of the Toyota 18R revealed something seriously amiss within the top end. Her younger brother and I proceeded to remove the tappet cover, immediately revealing a single plate holding the timing chain together. Further investigation showed no oil on the dipstick, ergo the chain tensioner couldn't do its job.
With some annoyance, I asked why there was no oil in the engine, when she had been taught how to check the oil, coolant, tyre pressures and change a wheel.
With total logic, in her mind, she replied "I couldn't afford to buy oil, so I saw no point in checking it."
Proves you don't need brains to get a degree. :bat:

I was at the local hire place a few years back and the young lady that served me asked me if i could to look at her AC at home,sometime.
I go there a few weeks later,and walking up her driveway,i noticed her daily driver,an old RAV 4 didn't just have bald tyres,it had steel hanging out of three of them[bigsad]
I pointed out the tyres to her.She did say she had noticed a vibration for the last few months.
When i saw her next,a month or so later,she thanked me.
The guys at the tyre shop had never seen 4 tyres on a vehicle in such bad condition ever before.
and I hope no one gets the wrong idea we're gender stereotyping, my ex said I was the first fella that could fix things, including changing a car tyre!Quote:
