But seriously, it makes total sense for JLR to make an AWD Wagon ...a rival for Subaru. Especially in Europe and the USA where there’s almost nowhere to drive off road anyway. It’s more about severe winter road traction than clearance.
They already have - it is the Jaguar XF Sportbrake 2018 Jaguar XF Sportbrake revealed, coming to Australia in December | CarAdvice
I don't know why LR is worried about making "normal cars" as the company is Jaguar Landrover and many Jaguar and Landrover models are made on the same production lines. Let the Jaguar side make the "cars" and Landrover make the offoad vehicles.

Wouldnt competitors be more like an audi allroad than a subapoo?
Looks like it has Range Rover across front of bonnet.....electric only.
Joins the Epoke as part of the modern RR family.
Certainly no heritage in it at all, nothing that relates to a RR.
A squashed velar.
Agreed. ...although Velar is the most interesting Land Rover in the current line up IMO. At least it’s truly futuristic, as opposed to being a generic looking SUV like RR RRS D5 and DS.
The D5 is growing on me when it’s in off-road mode and dirty. Long term durability in the bush is the big question though. ...I’d like to do a bush compare between Velar and D5
In many ways an all wheel drive wagon is more honest in terms of Land Rovers real target market. And a Land Rover has more cred in that market than Jaguar. It’s all smoke and mirrors anyway.
Hopefully Defender is entirely different from the D5, otherwise they really will all be clones.
Does the velar have a big enough boot for camping? I saw one review where all the screens and stuff glitched and they had to do a reset. Not something you had to do with an FJ Holden. Its gorgeous of course.
