I was wondering how long it would take for this news item to appear.
    From the article:
In many ways, I believe more and more drivers are being more considerate and driving safely.

Unfortunately, there is a small minority who are either just bad drivers, or believe it is their role in life to try and rid the road of other users by harassing them with close passes and aggressive behaviour.
I would say that, in many ways, I believe more and more cyclists are being more considerate and riding safely.

Unfortunately, there is a small minority who are either just bad riders, or believe it is their role in life to try and **** off other road users by disrespecting road rules and exhibiting aggressive behaviour.

Only last weekend, I was driving near Lake Bolac when I happened upon four cyclists. They were riding safely in single file to the left of the road on a major country highway. They were not riding in a peleton. They were not forcing their presence on the road. They were not ****ing off other road users. During the time I observed these cyclists, I noticed no vehicle had trouble passing them and they did not at any time appear to be in danger.
Oh, I will mention they appeared to be on hybrid bicycles i.e. a road going version of a mountain bike. They certainly weren't hunched over, head down, bum up, and weren't wearing lycra.

It does my head in, its why I have no respect at all of ragers against cyclist or even in general, I view them with the contempt of a piece of ****, even in humour.

Hows this for a recent event.

Just over 3 weeks ago my former boss and her husband (in his 70's) were casual riding their bikes after a coffee stop.

She turns around to see where her husband is.

Some bloke has tried to sidewipe him off his bike with his ute, so flicks him the birdie.

Driver (37yo) stops, gets out and snots a 72yo off the bike, and gives him massive brain injuies.

3 weeks ago yesterday they turned the life support off and the husband and father of 2 Uni aged boys passed away.

They have the coward, someone who needs to rot in jail, lets hope the legal system is also a justice system.

So it turns out, he is known amongst local cyclists for near sideswiping but nobody has ever reported him - these people need to be reported.

Some ****wit actions have destroyed a lot of lives. A hero only to himself.
    Cheers
    Slunnie

As keyboard operator, a motorist, a motorcyclist, and a lycra wearing cyclist (who rides in pelotons) - this is too true.

I really cannot understand the problem there apparently is between motorists and cyclists. I try to give consideration to all other road users even when it's obvious the other driver or rider is an idiot.
Yes it's frustrating particularly at this time of the year when the Tour de France is on but it's only a few that are total idiots. Yes it's frustrating driving up through the hills on a fine Sunday morning to get stuck behind a large group and the rear most rider, a very broad of beam chap, insists on riding as far to the right as he can to make every other road user either cross the double whites or sit behind his large rear end fuming.
It's highly annoying to hang back at a small roundabout so the cyclist in front can go through safely only to have him turn round give you the finger ...... and him being a teacher at one of the local private schools. If he's that sort of dick head who really cares?
But it only takes a small amount of time to hang back for the many who are doing the right thing and enjoying the ride so why are so many in such a ****ing rush to get where ever they're going?
