Great, now you can stalk your favourite creaters and tell them exactly what you think! 👍😊

There's absolutely no rules to what you can post there, it's pretty horrid what some people write ombe honest... 😠. I only leave positive comments - if I don't like something, I'll just move on, but there's plenty that get stuck in...
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Yes, there are certainly some total ***** that post comments. However, I am damned if I can see just where to "log in"!
My name comes up as "posting publicly etc", and in this particular case I have hit subscribe and it shows as 25? If I click on YouTube all of her videos come up on one page and it shows which ones that I have watched. BUT still no place where I can log in or post a comment. Oldtimers disease is a bitch.

Comments are below the videos typically.
I assume your logged in already as its got your history.

You may like this then. Passed thru Giles Met station when I was posted to Darwin, they have a U-boat engine to generate power. Part of the War reparations.[ this is not Giles, of course]

Thanks Bob. I have seen it previously. The slave working the hand pump is pre-lubing the engine. It is then turned over with the indicator cocks open to ensure that there is no hydraulic lock in the cylinders. Not sure if the starting is direct injection air, or an air starter motor.

    Direct injection air I believe

Yes, there appears to be an air injection valve shown towards the end of the video. Opa fiddles with something down near the flywheel after it starts and appears to close something off. But then he fiddles again with it before stopping it? But he starts it remotely at the air control station. Interesting old generator as well.

Yeah I saw that, and thought Fuel.

I think that the fuel injectors are down between the valve springs, secured with a bridge clamp. What I believe is the air starting valve is the much bigger item that sticks up above the rest as can be seen around 5.25/28. A big volume of air is needed at high pressure, 30 Bar being about the norm.
Not sure again, but some form of sequential timing device is required, and that may be what Opa is fiddling with. The usual form is a rotary distributor type of valve. On big marine engines the control is usually via a cam shaft that is only functional when the control lever is moved into the start position.
