Opinions on other Landies / Rangies you don't own...

Not fair to post in the owner / tech forums about cars you don't like, so maybe this thread has place...

    I'll start.

I assumed I'd really like the RR Velar. The flush door handles look great.

Yesterday I saw one from the back and really....
Not a fan at all. Looks horrible.

Landrover no longer make a car i would own. I think like you of all of them.
Im not anti new car look though. I like the look of the x5 although having had 2 BMW's i wont own another. Also like the look of the VW's and Audi.
The Landrovers just miss for me in looks.

I'm the same, I struggle to tell the difference between almost any of them now unless I'm close. I wouldn't go as far as to say I wouldn't buy any of them if I could, but that's a moot point as I can't afford any of them. Laziest design department after Porshe...

Disco 5 is so ugly I've been told by the family that were never going to own one, this is from the same people that survived the change from a Disco3 SE to a Defender 130. Having driven a couple I feel so removed from the offroad experience that I'm no longer an active participant, although that may be a symptom of driving a Defender for a while.
I'm hoping for good things from the new Defender and I would happily have a L494 RRS as an addition to the Defender. For me the Disco 5 is a bit of an anomaly, not flexible enough or enough aftermarket support to be a plush touring vehicle as the Disco 3 was, but not stylish enough as a comfortable gravel and bitumen tourer that can do some offroad if required.

The other factor is that wagons have gone out of favour as the touring vehicle of choice due to lower carrying capacity and the upmarket movement of Dual cab utes. Today's Ranger Wildtrack is a long way in comfort terms from a 2005 Hilux.

    Regards,

I beg to differ on the D5.
I've seen Lee's up close. Compared to other new things available today, it's pretty much similar in looks. Not particularly offensive. Mind you, there are some fugly cars out there. The Pulsar I am driving at the moment for one. Pretty much anything Hyundai or Ssangyong.

The D5 is also very capable. I'll never own one. By the time I get my hands on one, it will be a weathered mass of electrical problems.

Now, a mid '90s Camry, there's a stylish car. Anyone want to buy one with custom panel work?

All of the Current LandRover / RangeRover family look hideous & I will never own any of them.
I seriously hope the Defender has no styling cues from the current family . If they do I wont buy in.

But I do like one JLR car , would have a Jag I-Pace no problem & might just buy one if the Defender disappoints.

Heaps of D5's in Sydney's Hills Region. Heaps of Rangie's too. Am beginning to be able to tell them apart and have to say the look of the D5 is growing on me - even the butt ugly butt's looking better than I first thought.

Since when have we judged a 4x4 on looks, and not capability. I have to admit, modern " SUV's " have little to do with off road ability, having said that, how someone who drives an English brick on wheels, can be critical of modern design...…. just kidding.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

If I had the money I'd buy an L322 and if I had even more money a newer FFRR.

I like the look of most of the range. RRS is probably the best proportioned. The D5 rear is bulbous but isn't so bad in the darker colours. The Velar looks great with big wheels (looks weird small wheels) and drives amazingly. That said I dunno if I'd own one, unless I could convince work to get me one

    I wouldn't mind a custom D1 ute, or an L322 ute.

Turns out I wouldn't mind lots of things I can't afford Opinions on other Landies / Rangies you don't own...

I went for a drive in a Velar and liked it. If I could afford one - I would probably buy a top of the range RR. But alas until I win tattslotto, that isn’t going to happen... Opinions on other Landies / Rangies you don't own...Opinions on other Landies / Rangies you don't own...
