    Sleet/snow Ballarat driving

So I began my return leg of my big day out from Ballarat back home. Got on the high way and it was dark at five o`clock and there was rain and sleet bucketing down. Slush was building up on the windscreen. Not the best driving conditions. Moved along at about forty kilometers per hour till I cleared that particular storm cell. Passed a few cars that had actually gone of the road into the grass. Not surprised at all though that some motorists whipped past.

Gets cold up there. I remember nearly jacknifing a single drive semi up there on black ice at around 5 in the morning around 25 years ago. That woke me up.

Did we get snow ? Its been a cold winter this year. But its never cold enough for snow. I'd be more concerned by the morons that don't bother to give way around here than I would by a little bit of snow

We have quite a few places that are notorious for black ice in the early mornings ..... If it gets towards zero degrees ..... but REALLY careful. if you see any tarmac that looks "shiny", put two wheels into the gravel on the side of the road and slow down to walking pace!

Sleet, snow and iced up roads are common here. Most locals slow down but it's the out of town/city skier come tourist that causes major concerns.such as aggressive driving techniques and driving way too fast for the conditions and speed limits. It's a guessing game as to whether they will yield when faced with a give way or stop sign or simply accelerate to try and beat you into the intersection only to have to stop at the last second. Not all succeed at this.
