I had an MSIC at the time, but I would have needed an ASIC, as it came by air.

Can you buy the parts you need to convert and rebuild your existing one and get them to send it in smaller packages?
DHL has a reputation for adding charges that cannot be applied and when challenged they are withdrawn - there are lots of threads about this. Any genuine Aust Government charges clearly have to be paid but anything levied by DHL are not - afterall that is what the shipping charges are and cover all the shippers costs.
Never - ever use DHL.

Having never imported anything over the old magic $1000 my experience is limited, however, the last few shipments I have gotten from the UK (DLS) came via TNT, whos shipping costs were siginificantly cheaper than their previous freight company.
I wonder, does anyone do entire container freight from the UK to here, like they do with parts from Japan and USA. Obviously you would have to wait longer to get your goods (as they would have to wait till the container is filled and then sea freight) but the importing and freighting costs may be less???
