    Great new Narva LED inspection lamp for camping

    Just saw the latest edition of 4WD TV, and Simon was interviewing a bloke from Narva in relation to their new battery-powered inspection lamp with a gazzillion LEDs. Looks like it could be good for camping too - and might even replace my trusty old fluoro's. It is damn bright by the looks of it. It charges from 240v, but they are apparently bringing out a 12v rechargeable version. 6 hours is usually plenty for me - from dark until bed time (unless I'm on a bender... ) Apparently the light produced by the LED's isn't at all interesting to bugs - which might be a great advantage.

    Nice! (Don't know how much it is though).

    PS - I don't work for anyone involved - it's just purely FYI.

    Tried it a month ago, It is not as good as a standard fluro. Light is too directional. If it had a few more LED"s to the side it would be great.
    Also a little awkward to use in different sitting positions.

    i wouldnt use one anyware near where there are kids, LED's burn your eyes out same as looking at the sun...

    ive thought about putting one in a japanese paper lanton in order to take the directional effect out of a led system and defuse it into a traditonal light

    <span style="color:blue">there are all different makes and models hitting the market lately.....
    you will find mechanics the first to use them.....cordless leadlights.....
    they average from about $80 to $140....but beware....the cheaper ones have less LEDs so are not as bright.....

    should be ok for camping if fixed to the roof of a tent facing downwards...
    but yes....they are very directional beacuse their main purpose is for the above reason...

    some bright spark will design one with LEDs all around eventually to work
    as a lantern i guess.....</span>
