    Sprung by ANR.

Had a little experience yesterday. I was driving my late wife's car in Mitcham. Saw a Highway Patrol Commodore checking speed. Was going a little over the posted. He didn't immediately follow. About 1k further I saw them using their lights to cut traffic, and I was pulled over. We've probably all had this experience, right?

OK, now it gets a little weird. They wanted to check the VIN. I said, " you didn't pull me over for this? I know I was a few K's over the limit". They said, no, it's about the car being blue, but it comes up as white. Had I changed the colour? No, it was blue when Ford built it, and it was blue when we bought it. "Fine, have a nice day. Go to VicRoads and get it changed."

When we bought the car it said blue on everything, including the handbook. At some time VicRoads have changed it to white, an error of theirs. The copper told me to get it sorted or face the prospect of getting pulled over every time the plate got scanned by the ANR camera in a police car.

Strangely, I was listening to an audio rendition of Orwell's 1984 at the time. I went to VicRoads today to fix it. Not even an apology.

You're wrong, Ford's wrong; VicRoads, RMS and QT are never wrong, ask 'em.

It took 11 years of my correcting the rego renewal notice for the D1 with Qld Transport from "Petrol" to "Diesel" before they got it right!

You can't knock a bloke for doing his job (fairly). Back in my dealership days I had a boss who had a few mates in the highway patrol. I was in the office one arvo when he got a phone call from one of his mates in regards to the authenticity of a car he'd pulled up for a RBT and wanting my boss to double check Holden's database as opposed to the government one. So Mr. Plod has pulled up a red VS commodore acclaim but has noticed that the steering wheel has no airbag (which acclaim's had standard). According to the VIN both the govt. records and Holden's records show it as white so Mr. Plod has a searches the car looking for traces of white paint and can't find any. Not long after the young girl was "helping police with their inquiries".

Happens quite often with QT . then have to take time off work to take vehicle in so they can site. I have had it happen 3 times & if you don't check what's is on the renal you don't find out until it comes time to get a RWC to sell the vehicle, then more time waisted.

I think in reality not many of us would like to spend our working day apologizing for a mistake made by someone whom we will never meet, working in a different department, possibly in a different city, amongst thousands of employees of the same branch of government.

They were busy on East link yesterday mid morning, when I passed the camera van hidden under a bridge further up there were highway patrol cars every where and the had 3 or 4 cars and trucks each pulled up. just goes to show how many law breakers share the roads with us.

Not wearing an alfoil hat (yet), but would like to see the figures for unregistered vehicle fines in Qld, before and after they dropped the rego stickers.
Rego notices are sent to your last known address - a young bloke at work has changed addresses half a dozen times in the last couple of years!
