Things not to miss in Tassie.

    Gday all,

The boss and me will be touring around Tassie in November for about 3.5 weeks with the D3 and camper , and other than hopefully catching up with JC if he is still there, and going back to port Arthur , was wondering what or where others who have spent time there think we should not miss.

We have been to Tassie a few times but usually just short visits so didnt see to much other than Hobart and Launceston and a couple of side trips to the huon valley, cadbury chocolate factory ( which I hear has shut down ) and port arthur.

So if you know of a place / town / off the track camping spot worth a visit and wish to share please post away.

    Thanks and Cheers Ean

Courinda and the Balfour track if you have a suitably prepared car. Also Jacobs Ladder is a great drive and view!

As a visitor from NSW rather than a local I offer the following suggestions:

The Wall at Derwent Bridge if you appreciate remarkable craftsmanship.
The Ida Bay Railway if you are interested in the history of that part of Tas.
Cockle Creek for a camp and the satisfaction of being as far south as you can drive in Australia.
    The Lavender Farm at Bridport.
Tin Dragon Interpretation Centre in Derby
Waterhouse Conservation area is a great spot to camp.
    Ranga Flat.

    1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.

I’ll check some stuff when I’m at home, but there’s quite a few really nice camping spots on the East coast, right on the beaches.
We found Richmond to be a great place to visit, although we missed a zoo somewhere near there somehow, 🧐, but did get a wave from an older lady in a Disco which took us by surprise 😳😁

We we only had two weeks, so stuck mostly to the East coast areas, but did go down to PA, and did a great boat trip from there which took us rather quickly to the bottom of the island 🤪 Was an awesome ride.

    Ean ?
We have cradle mountain area on the list.

The plan so far is we fly to Sydney on Sunday night 4th collect the car and camper on monday 5th Nov and have to meet the ferry in melb on tuesday 6th , then back into melb wed 28th and back in Darwin by tuesday 4th Dec.- our basic thought was G.O.R when we get back to Melb.

Everything else is as it flows.

    Cheers Ean

All of the above recomendations are excellent , add in camping at Friendly beach ( Freycinct Penensula ) , Bay of Fires / St Helens Camping . The Great Western Tiers - poss Snow ! ( exciting for a Darwinian ) The Great Lakes , follow the rivers to the power station , its Wild Country -absolutely Stunning .

If going to Bridport , have a stop over in George Town and check out

    Home

Tassie is great , enjoy the trip .
