LandRover should be so proud - More reliable than Tesla

The cars you can - and can't - depend on revealed | This is Money

"Suzuki, which mainly makes cheap and cheerful small cars and 4x4s, topped the overall manufacturer rankings for new cars up to four years old with a reliability score of 97.7 per cent, joined by Lexus, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Subaru in the top six."

"Land Rover - which was second from bottom - scored at 76.5 per cent for reliability of cars between one and four years old."

"Despite the cheapest brand new Tesla setting buyers back more than £60,000, its reliability score of 57.3 per cent was by far the worst rating. "

    Hi

That report quotes this survey, the "2018 What Car Reliability Survey" here: 2018 What Car Reliability Survey - What Car?
No link to the methodology or data. It appears that they do the survey via a web form that anyone with a car, who provides them with their details (so they can on-sell the users info). Not the most unbiased method. I'd take surveys like that with a bit of salt.

Anyway, don't you realise that EV's are the way of the future, and Father Elon is going to lead all his disciples into a world with no pollution***

    Yes But .
The US JD Power survey of initial faults and 1 year reliability has Land Rover very near bottom. AFAIR only Jeep was worse.

It seems an extreme coincidence that just about all surveys rate Land Rovers as near the bottom for reliability.

Can you advise us of a survey that lists Land Rover near the top for reliability?

It's OK to be brand loyal, but facts should be faced.

Interestingly the part that fails most on a Tesla and most frequent warranty repair is the 12v Lead Acid battery . Beggars belief that they don't use a Lithium 12v battery for the 12v system.

Can tell you by my very own practical experience that my Tesla outclasses the Land Rovers in terms of comfort, economy, environmental impact and, of course, reliability. Lacks the charm and attitude of the old fellas, though. And I do miss the oil stains on the drive...

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

I had an oil leak sorted out this week. Parked the car last night on a unstained patch of road just down from our house so that a) I could check in the morning if there were stains and b) I used a can of degreaser and hose to clear the stains where I had been parking.

Came out around 11pm to check under car and see if any oil had dropped. Someone had slid a piece of cardboard underneath! Seems a neighbour doesn't want drips on the road near their house

I have yet to see Land Rover not somewhere near the bottom of any reliability survey.

Unfortunately all those surveys can’t be wrong.....
