Tread lightly. That movement seems to have faded away.

Exactly, seems like the attitude now is "the more dirt I can spray the bigger my man bits are", especially when posted on Yobtube with a thumping tune. Would completely support seize and crush of vehicles caught hacking the track up.

As stated in the article, the Professor has a problem with maths, over exaggeration, or both. Beware of zealots with an axe to grind. It only takes one 4WD warrior to focus the attention of these zealots . It seems the closer we are to major centres of population , the worse the problem is.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Maybe if you want to go off road we could pay an annual fee of a $100 and have a gps tracker in the vehicle that opened gates and tracked vehicles. on leaving the area the data would be automatically downloaded. if there was excessive damage done the rangers could check data and fine the guilty a very hefty fine. I know I reeks of big brother **** but really whats the alterative. I know I would be happy with that sort of system if I still had access to some wonder spot

And simply restricting numbers and require a one-off permit booked and purchased in advance to access special places would help - like they do at Cape Arnhem where only I think 8-10 or so vehicles only are allowed on the Cape at a time. The place looks untouched except for the plastic washed up on the beach from Indonesia.IMGP6969.jpg

And of course allowing foot only access to very sensitive areas needs to continue - many people think they have a right to drive absolutely anywhere which is of course incompatible with the National Parks mission of protecting our children's natural heritage.

As far as I know, that in Qld all beaches accessed by vehicles are classified as roads/highways and are policed as such,I know that Bribie Island beach is regularly patrolled by the local police with both the puff bag and radar very profitable

    cheers

A fee to stop idiots being idiots? Do you really think that the people who make the mess of tracks and parks are actually paying the fee to drive there??? I think not.... I think it's just another rule and tax for the people who are already doing the right thing.

Unfortunately, i think this is the tactic that is taken far too often. I dont know the answer, but locking gates just keeps the honest people out, the people who are going to do the right thing. Punishing the people who are just enjoying nature, the people who the parks are allocated for.

I believe a lot of the problems come from theses 4wd magazines and videos as they throw mud and dirt everywhere this obviously makes for a great day out and trip all I see are a bunch of d**k heads tearing up out bush. Things won't change until the 4wd community stops buying there rubbish and let theses ******* know it's not ok to tear up our bush. Paying a fee won't do a thing to stop the idiots I think it would make things worse as they would think I paid to come here I will do what I want we need more policing by park rangers and police with the powers to seize car from the brain dead vandals and impose very hefty fines and prison terms from the courts then things may change.
