At lunchtime today I got an email from my brother in Houston saying there had been two light aircraft crashes that day close to where he lives. I couldn't make out the street signs in one of the pictures, but from the County sign I assume this is the one he talked about in Sugarland, which is in Fort Bend.

Remarkably, from his email this would make it a Drug Enforcement Agency training flight with three on board, one injury, apparently not serious.

Looking at the pictures, the lack of fire and no signs of a fuel spill makes one wonder whether there was any fuel on board. The propeller damage shows there was no power being developed when it hit the ground.

Looking at those pics, I would say, as an ex pilot, if needs be, that is a very positive outcome for that scenario. Well done that pilot.

Yes - it could have been a lot worse. Probably helped that as a training flight it was probably fairly light, and no loose cargo.

Too roight! The Tesla was too quiet engine wise for the Cessna pilot to hear and avoid. Not only that, if the Tesla driver had been in a red blooded pickup truck with chrome exhaust stacks, it could have blapped the throttle and lifted the Cessna for another mile of glide!!!

I think the Cessna would have been pretty quiet too, so you can't blame Tesla!
