I like teachers

Thats a funny old saying, but actually its often wrong. For example, I've just spent a morning with 6 employers from major companies (you would know the names) doing job interviews for job ads only mildly altered from real ads. One of those employers in real life is currently interviewing for 26 apprentices. Another of the employers is a former student of our school.
The students are mostly former refugees whose first language is not English, plus some with special needs. They did great and were praised by the employers. This course is a Certificate III which can only be taught by people with very specific qualifications. The course goes through an industry feedback process as part of approval. We have quite a few teachers who had successful industry careers and only came to teaching mid-career because they wanted to give something back. They include a lawyer, a builder and an industrial designer. So, its a funny saying, but its often wrong.

Sorry, I know you were just making a joke, so I didn't mean to be too serious.
There is a trend for people to do a mid-life career change and go into teaching.
I remembered we also have a former engineer, accountant, media executive, IT business owner, robotics smartypants, actor, dancer, several musicians and a national hockey player. Probably more too.

Property manager, gardener, tyre fitter, mechanic, bank teller...

My oldest daughter is a Special Needs Teacher at high school been at it about 20 years now , she is just finishing her second masters so she can do what she has been for years vocational guideance . She found two of her students apprentships last year & one the year before , also managed to get couple of others jobs. When it is time for work experiance for them she helps them find positions . We are very proud of her & her sister . Out youngest daughter also teachers but she teachers Vet Nursing . Don't know how I ended up with two smart girls I strugled through high school & finished in year10.

I understand what the first daughter is doing as it is similar in some ways to my role, except I also train in a job skills course. Currently also assisting students to apply for work experience, casual work and skills based training.

I like nurses.....not the ones some of you are fantasising about

.....but the real ones.

They should be paid more than politicians.
