You should have set up a street or two with dummy shop fronts done up to look like those on some of the more up market shopping strips !
Yesterday I had to go out of the Roadhouse, this is an unusual thing for me to do.
As I was driving out the compound gate a little white Subaru drove past with some odd thingy on the roof.
To see what was going on (things out of the ordinary stand out in Doomadgee) I hustled the D2 along to catch up. This was no mean feat.
Once I caught up, took a while, I discovered that the Subaru had a tall thing with cameras all around it on the roof, YES! It's Google Street Scape!
Why they would want to street scape Doomadgee is a mystery? I wonder if they had did the whole Community? And, I wonder if they managed to do that without damage or abuse?
So after how ever many years Street Scape has been around they have finally found Doomadgee, we are famous & I will soon be able to say "Yes, I run a ****-ant little Roadhouse in the middle of nowhere, but we are on Street Scape!"

Its so people like me in the big smoke can have a sticky . I love having a look around before setting off on a trip.
I take it from your comments that the locals arent keen on tourists?
Looks like some crazy fishing spots ups there or do the crocs out number the fish?
The locals don't mind Tourists but don't generally like being filmed.
If it's just after payday they have a bit of Green Can courage & get even more upset. It's mainly in the Village where tourist try filming and being really blatant about it that people get stirred up.
Because we are a bit inland we mainly have Freshies, in the Wet Salties come up the river & can easily get around the weir. After the Wet they are usually caught & moved on but we do get the odd clever ones who won't go near a trap. We had a big black one here for a few years but we usually knew where he was so just went to some other part of the river.
The fishing here can be excellent, better in the Wet & there are also lots of places near by that are good. I don't get much time off so haven't fished for years but a few years back the kids caught about 20 big Bream in an hour near the coast & 1 of my boys caught a good sized Barra in the river opposite the main Shop. He was about 8 then & SOOoo excited.
So come, enjoy the fishing, dust flies & friendly Roadhouse Keepers!

Google wants to film the whole world.
Not sure how to tell you this but you are already on Google Earth. I'm looking at you right now. I see the hospital, school, retail store and Aboriginal shire council. Where is the roadhouse?
Only see one house with a green lawn. Don't you have water bores?
Where is the roadhouse?

Eerrr, on the road?![]()
Doomadgee Roadhouse, Crn Savanah Way & Goodeedawa Rd, Savanah Way sometimes called Doomadgee East Rd or Hell's Gate Rd or Burketown Rd, depends on the map.
We have river water & plenty of it, just most folks don't bother watering their weeds.

Google Earth doesn't seem to recognize Savannah Way. Maybe you should have waved at the Google car.
