Goodnight Diesel. ...Land Rover get your EV skates on!

Being on the road a lot,Prius seems to be the most common by a country mile,i see quite a few,many seem to be Govt vehicles going by the rego plates,or Taxis.

Tesla seem to be the next most common,from what i have seen.

But i suppose they have been around for a while,about 10yrs?

That Nissan is still ridiculously expensive,short range of 270K,which will mean in reality probably around 200K.

Manufacturers are also saying once ambient temps get over 35 degrees,battery range drops off quite considerably.

Nissan are also saying prices of EV's should match equivalent IC vehicles in about 5 yrs time.

Interesting times.

Toyota hybrids are also in Camrys, Corollas and others - soon to be in the Hilux.

Anyone had long term experience with the early L494 or L405 hybrids?

To me they make sense in Oz. The electric motor seems to be mainly there to help overcome inertia (stop start in suburbia) and normal ICE diesel for touring.

Yes forgot about those,i see the occasional Camry,never seen a Corolla.

RAV4 is the next to be released,very shortly,specs are available but no prices.

Hi Lux is quite a long way off,but as said on its way.

None in Aus are plug in Hybrids.

Corolla hybrid is in the new model. Seen several. $32,000 is good value - only $2k above standard.

I think the Hilux hybrid is about 3 years away. It will be great to see the tradies buying them. I reckon fleet sales will be enormous because of the lower running costs. What building company wouldn't want to save $100 a week on fuel costs? It's a no-brainer.

I read yesterday an article that manufacturers are struggling to secure battles and is delaying rolling out or increasing production......

I posted in a thread the other week about dealing with the radioactive waste of manufacturing the Li-ion batteries, this will become a big issue....and the minorities that are currently disrupting Aussie business’s will patch into this as well.

Aussie miners are standing firm that the waste shouldn’t come back to Australia....anybody need some landfill for their block.

Are you sure this is legit, I cant find any reference to the effect that radioactive waste is a byproduct of the production of Lithium batteries.

Lithium has no natural radioactive isotopes , and those than can be synthesised have a half life of nanoseconds .

I’m no metallurgist but I believe when up upgrade many heavy metal or rare earth metal by default you increase the radioactive readings. My only experience is being classed a radiation worker in Brisbane at a heavy metal processing plant. For lithium I can only go off media oh and bumping into my CEO in KL where he was onsite discussing the issues.

It’s only classed a low-level radiation but it’s still something that needs a solution.

Record result but still no breathing space for Lynas

Good chance I’m not on the money...pretty sure it’s got something to do with producing batteries.
