The entire announcement from the JLR CEO:
Reimagine Jaguar | An Announcement From Thierry Bolloré, JLR Chief Executive Officer - YouTube
The guts of it has already been posted on this thread. The rest of it is corporate-speak for “expect job losses”.
I can sort of see EV working for a sports car, like Jaguar, and perhaps the softer RR variants, eg Velar, but it does not sit well with me for RR / RRS / Disco / Defender. They are (or have been) marketed as tough, go anyway, vehicles.
I don’t believe the battery technology is there yet for travelling into remote locations or towing heavy loads. Maybe their plans will evolve as technology does, or LR will “re-imagine”, to use the CEO’s seemingly favourite word, those vehicles as luxury vehicles, targeted at urban drivers, having the 4WD looks (but no longer the capability) to retain their cred. Given that apparently most owners don’t leave the bitumen, perhaps that is not as silly as it sounds.
Haven't electric or hybrid Jags been on the road for a couple of years already?

Go Woke go broke.
Lets face it LR only thinks about the European market and zero about Australia.
They have long left the outback touring markets of Africa Australia and the Middle East.
I wonder what the Saudis think of it, although they never bought LR in any volume, always Toyota, who I bet will hedge their bets.
