What to do when you don't want to do what you do?

Hi,
An idea that won't suit everyone, but that my parents wanted, was to participate in the body bequest program at Tas Uni.
It provides valuable teaching to pre and post graduate students, and the ashes are returned to the family after about 1 year.
I will probably do the same, having raised the subject with the family, and them not objecting.

This week we have transported the ashes of two close relatives who died recently to the place where they wanted to rest, and made the necessary arrangements.
I had to identify the body of one of them, after he collapsed suddenly, and was found lying in a pool of blood in a shopping centre car park.
Experiences like that focus the mind on what is important. That could be me in about 20 years.
So I definitely encourage planning for our remaining years.

Having a hobby is key I believe. I look at my Pa, he is well into retirement and is still doing what he likes, which is mostly playing in his workshop building small steam engines and building all the bits and pieces needed for that.

A few years ago I visited a friend of a friend's Father's shed & was absolutely amazed at the skills & craftsmanship he used to build small Steam Locomotives. No idea what gauge it was but the Loco & Tender was aprox 2.5 ft in length & was a model of the South Australian Railways Mountain Type used here.

Your Dad must have the same skills to achieve the very small & intricate components required & I metaphorically dips me lid to him.[smilebigeye]
