    Anyone interested in spiders

    Hello,
I found this spider in the garage today, and as I have never seen one like this does anyone know what it’s is? Just curious.

If thats a Donaldson filter Element on the left I'll be calling it a Giant House Spider , otherwise a Black House Spider.
If I found it it would be a squished spider .

That looks like your ordinary garden variety orb web spider:

Yes, Garden Orb-Weaver as mentioned. In Queensland they get much, much bigger; I've seen them larger than the palm of my hand. They go wandering this time of year to find a mate. One dropped onto me when I was laying under a Land Rover once - it was a harrowing experience for both of us.

Looks like a 50L compost bin on the left.

If that was a Donaldson filter element I wouldn’t be there! It is dead as the stuff I spray with every year kills them. I know it’s not a black house spider. I doubt a orb spider as it’s black and they are grey or at least the ones I have seen are also the abdomen is flat on the top where as the orb is rounded. Sorry I couldn’t get a side shot.
