Really refreshing to see all the height responses.
All the stuff I make for myself is 1100.
The bench height of 900 is only relevant to the 1800's or the height of women. Probably can't even say that now.

When I built the kitchen for my wife, I said stand there and tell me how high you want the benchtops. They turned out about 3 inches taller than standard height. Made it a real pain to fit it all out as non of the standard stuff would fit and I had to custom the lot. We do get lots of comments on a good working height though, as I tell people, happy wife equals happy wife. Must finish them one day
cheers

Have you decided what weight your bench must be able to support?
I have a relative who is a welder and his work benches have to be massive to support big beams for buildings.
I wish I had the capability of such weighty projects.
My 'shed' is 6x3m, sheet metal with 1 door and no windows. I can barely fit myself in it, let alone structural steel!
FWIW, if it can handle a transfercase strip-down, a rebuild of an alternator, or other small DIY auto jobs, I'm happy. It will be a place for the vice, a tool box, and a surface to do small jobs on.
I hate to admit it Mitch but yours is three times bigger than mine.
