    Huddle Car Insurance

    Hi team

I have recently been reviewing (all) my insurance as I am paying way to much, and it pays to shop around once in a while!! On the vehicle front I discovered Huddle, huddle.com.au. I had never heard of them before but a quick poke around on their web site shows a vast majority of very positive reviews and they seem to be about as cheap as you can get. All online and paperless so I guess their overheads are significantly less than the larger competition. From reading some of the reviews it appears that as soon as you have signed up you are sent a survey to complete so that appears to be providing perhaps a false 'positive impression'. There are some quite odd questions in the online application but they do offer agreed value and there is an additional 10% discount for additional vehicles.

They are underwritten by Hollard Group (South African) and the founder of Hollard, Robert Enthoven has partially bankrolled Huddle.

The web site says Pays Claims in Seconds..It all seems to good to be true and I am unable to find any reference to someone that has had a claims experience and how easy or otherwise this may be.

In my case based on their quotes for the same coverage as I have at present I would save $1500 a year. An amount not to be sniffed at if they are really legit!

Just wondering anyone on here has had experience with them?
    Cheers

Sounds too risky for me and my cars but perhaps contact Hollard with some pertinent questions.

Maybe also consider balancing your $1500 annual savings against everything coming unstuck insurance wise and you have to pay for the accident repairs to not only your car but also to other third party cars/property for their repairs if you happen to be in the wrong in an accident.

I have found that saving a few dollars on annual insurance costs can be false economy in that loyalty to a major insurance company has really worked in my favour when repair dollars were needed.

    +1 to what Grumbles said.

The time when you need your insurance is the time you find out what you've paid for and that might already be a bit stressful.

I know I can get 'cheaper' insurance for my Disco and home etc but I stick with my current insurer and their 'premium' products as I've never had a problem with them and they paid out straight away when I had a claim and assisted in getting me and my gear home to Sydney after my Defender was written off in Alice Springs a few years ago. Sure, I could have saved a couple of hundred dollars a year with someone else but when I needed them NRMA really came through for me.

Yes all valid points and these are my concerns also hence asking if anyone has had any experience with them.

All mine are currently with QBE and I haven’t had to claim in over 30 years...

I'm not sure that the underwriters have much to do with how good the coy is to deal with. i would look for reviews done on independent websites rather than those found on their own site. You are more likely to get a balanced perspective that way.

While I know what you mean with regards to no claims in thirty years...Murphy's law says that as soon as you move, you will need to make a claim and possibly find they are difficult to deal with. Hopefully the reverse is more the reality.
