    Bugger

Having finished the bathroom renovation job I headed off this morning for a well earned week of fishing at Sharks Bay.
I pulled up just out of Geraldton to fuel up and found i had a busted spring on the boat trailer, Luckily I am only a few k's out of town and the boat is secure at the servo.
Much better than being stuck in the middle of nowhere where the boat would be trashed by the time i got back with the new springs.

It looks like the spring has been cracked for some time judging by all the rust on the break.

A bit of fencing wire and a guide post would have seen you gone in short order.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

I did that once quite a few years ago and used gaffer tape, It got me back the 400k's to town.
I am only 10k's out of town at the moment so i will head in when the trailer parts shop opens in an hour and do a permanent job on the spring.
It will only take about 1/2 an hour to fit the new spring and when i get to Sharks bay i will replace the spring on the other side on a windy day i cant fish on

You could probably use some of that gutrot in the carton the spring is sitting on to dissolve all the rust on the other side spring to see if it is still in reasonable condition. Then again, that stuff would probably dissolve the spring ...............

That's what happens when you over load and exceed the spring rating, if you didn't have that slab of beer in there then you probably would have been ok.
