I think the last time I had a pot at the Shamrock, it cost me 1/6.
I also remember when there was a cop on point duty at the five-way.
If they lived in Jeays St. Bowen Hills, why did they walk past the Jubilee to go to the Shamrock? Were they barred from the Joob?
The Shamrock was never a nice pub. Not quite a bloodhouse but the next step up. As the Valley changed into the nightclub precinct and the pubs got buggered around, the Shamrock was the last drinkers pub left in the Valley. Last time I went in there was not long before it got changed to Goth or whatever it is now. There were only about a half dozen bar flies in there.
Just checked, the Jubilee was built in 1888, my bad. It was a good pub when Chris Handy ran it.
