That speaks volumes about the USA.

It’s never “done and dusted” it’s never over.
Bob if politics of division are the problem why do you insist on propagating it?
I’m fed up with the constant crap of those who can’t exist outside of the past.
Incessant complaints and negativity towards anything that doesn’t fit an ideology.
Insisting and by insinuating that I, my ancestors, friends and anybody else never known, met, and certainly have zero idea about, does not join the whining bandwagon, is some sort of repugnant person to you..
Report the post I don’t care.
Get up off your chair and go yell at the kids playing on the grass, I’m sure there must be some somewhere.
Doesn’t it get tiring of pointing out to everyone what you disagree with?
Agree January 26 is the wrong date because it is the day Governor Phillip claimed British control over New South Wales, not Australia, which didn't exist for more than a century. So historically, January 26 IS Invasion Day and a cause of continuing division.
Also agree January 1 is Federation Day when Australia came into being so that should be Australia Day. So what if January 1 is already a holiday? That's no reason not to name it Australia Day.
This article touches on what I have been trying to get across, unsuccessfully it seems, to some. I don't have the words.
Comment: A day to reflect on Indigenous issues
No, were you aiming for one?
As I said constant sniping never happy, always wanting history to be different, never grasping accepting reality.
My schoolyard.... again youve no idea but snippy comments anyway.
You don’t know yours why do you presume to know mine?
Don’t bother a narrow mind is useless.
Why , Strangy, do you not accept the facts. History will never be different, can't change that. How long can people bury their heads in the sand.? My comments are not directed at individuals. Most of the time. Certainly not against some random AULRO member I do not know. Unless provoked. Sorry if you feel that way, .

why not become a republic/islamic/empire so we have republic/islamic/empire day and nothing else? solves all the problems
SA used to have an 'Empire Day' but that got changed by who knows who [bighmmm] & we used to have an 'Arbour Day' (now Earth Day) when we kids would plant trees in the school precinct & local area. I have revisited some of those trees which we planted & happy to say they are still doing marvelously well.

Empire Day. The celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday on May 24 was renamed Empire Day in 1903 after her death in 1901. It was celebrated throughout the British Empire culminating in fireworks and bonfires in the evening. The last celebration of Empire Day in Australia took place in 1958.
Just sayin'Quote:
The most common practice on Arbor Day was the planting of trees. ... Arbor Day grew to become a national observance. It seemed natural to schedule April 22, 1970 – Arbor Day – as the first Earth Day. Today, a common practice in celebration of Earth Day is still to plant new trees.
I think if you look at the list of past winners , you could say that about quite a few, cricket captains, swimmers , movie stars etc, really at least half could be said is due to crowd favourites rather than the commitment to improving day to day life of others. Then again I don't know what the criteria is for the award.
They said that the aneathitist -however the hell you spell it - was 1 of only 2 people in the world that had the skills and cave diving experience to pull it off. I believe the other doctor was also in a rare group who had cave diving experience as well. They helped save 14 lives so I think they are worthy of the award , even tho it was for something done in another country.
Cheers Ean

You're right you know & hats off to them. It is an Australian Award & doesn't say anything about where it is applicable IMHO.
