Ambulance Victoria has a patient transport service that I have used a couple of times to take me home and to hospital, they took me home on a trolley. There are 2 types of Ambulances the emergency ambulance and the non urgent ambulance which does the non life threatening cases and transports., I had mobility issues and could not get home in a taxi or car. I am also an ambulance subscriber so no charge.

I have had private health insurance for quite a number of years.
Besides reading glasses, I didnt really need it for the first few years, but seeing as I,m getting older,
a number of instances where the yearly bill for the insurance has been paid out plus some so I think I,m
in front now. The excess is $500 and I,m still in front and as others have said...
If public join the queue,if private how about X day.
I,ll go private just for the convenience of getting the problem seen to early and hopefully living a bit longer.

    cheers

Private 'Navy Health' Never used it to date happily. I do get to see many people who wish they did have it when they have non emergency but very painful medical issues where joining the cue is not a joyful short experience!

Elective surgery - hips, knees..... do often bite as you age and the rehab differences between public and private is enormous usually!

For heart attacks, stroke and cancer type issues public is first rate and private insurance makes little difference !!! Ditto if some one mucks up and almost kills me on a bike or in a car or on a pedestrian crossing

The extra cover is really good, twice yearly dental check ups for everyone and a few $$$$ for glasses and similar is always fully used at my place. Smiles unless the sods forget to brush
