Yeah right, typically in your job you'd finish the year off & think.... "Do I really want to go back to that poxxy job?"What i would like to do is take a year off, then when i get bored, back to work for a little while longer, maybe.
If it was in the middle of summer I know what the answer would be "Naaahh. I think I'll go & be a beach bum with Rick".![]()
We were saving up for 12 months, the second half seemed to be taking soooooo looong, so we decided to do 6 months and see what happens![]()
But Rick is already a beach bum, so he would have to spend some time teaching me the ropes
That'd be ok I'm sure, he would delay his fishing for a few hours then drift down to to the Coffee Shop for another couple of hours before picking up his Benefits cheque & lighting up his barby on the beach to bake the Schnapper he caught earlier.
You bring the carton of wine,ok?
Damnit Des, you're onto me!![]()
Takes one to know one 'cos that thought has gone through my head once or twice. Not to be a Beach Bum with you mind, 'cos that would be silly. Twos company threes a crowd.![]()
Actually, my post was a bit tongue in cheek as the decision is already made basically. We're on a transition to retirement plan, have a good financial adviser and are at the stage of having the Brisbane house on the market. When it sells we'll pay off our Maleny house, set the date to stop working and be off travelling, hopefully by mid year.
Just have to arrange things to maximise my pension. I'm giving my super to my wife!
Bring it on.
Mean while I'm upgrading my qualifications to the latest version to stay current for five years in case I want part time work.
Just bought a new camper trailer too.
Well the upside is, I suspect we got Rick & Paul together doing something that they seem to like doing together.
They probably don't know that yet.![]()
