    Gets worse........

Apparently the (most) part of the Darling called the Northern Basin isn't even metered.

Again lack of flow is only one reason fish die, oxygen is low, **** happens.

Yep, extinction happens. Especially when the citizens take little interest in the toing and froing of their elected representatives. And the old boys network takes control.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Royal Commission report on the Murray Darling basin published.

You may have to go online to see it all, but for now both sides of Politics blames the other.

    Bob ,

There are many potential reasons for why what happened has happened.

I've just pointed out a couple of the seldom visited reasons that have to do with the provision of water and water quality in that region that the actual fish need to survive.

Carp have a fantastic few years in any new waterway they get into, then their numbers drop off. Native fish, etc, learn to eat them, etc.

I was a bit surprised to see so few in the Darling fish kill vids.

Have done carp eradication in a few places and plenty of freshwater work, including collecting data on stratification and low DO levels caused by low flow.

There are many records of these type of fish kills going back before cotton farming in OZ.

    cheers, DL

Instead of worrying about who caused it
Shouldn't we be talking about how to fix it?

If it was a stuff up, natural causes or whatever we can allocate all the blame we like but,
    How do we fix it?
