Really enjoyed the race today - the drivers have earned their keep. I have been flicking back to the Cricket at times (Australia has just declared their second innings - Khawaja got his tonne. 👍 )
Got to say I think the ‘No weaving after the safety cars lights have gone out’ is a bit of BS IMO. A bit petty really and if the guy on the radio is a few seconds off giving the driver that info, they’re screwed.
But all in all, I have enjoyed this more than the stupercars to be honest. They look like real race cars IMO, and the variety of manufacturers that are still duking it out is awesome. And you can tell much more easily what each car is.
Great race - think I’ll see if I can get there in person next year. 👍
888 soooo close to getting onto the podium - would have liked to see that.
Sooo, just thinking out loud here (in conjunction with texts with GG) - who would be up for a 2021 AULRO meet at Bathurst for the 12 hour? Can’t do next year as we have a big trip planned to the red center and I am already saving for the fuel bill to run the 101 to Alice and back, but 2021 gives everyone plenty of time...
You're taking the 101 to Alice and back? Bought shares in BP have you?
Pretty much - it’s been far and wide over the years. I close my eyes, fill ‘er up and enjoy. We’re going the long way so I’m budgeting for a 6,000KM plus trip which should translate to around 1,200 to 1,400 litres of fuel give or take. Allowing $3K for fuel. Should be able to do it on that. It is a great vehicle to travel in if you can afford it - I love camping out of it - I could damn near live in it I think...
That’s why I’m saving now....
2021... Aulro Bathurst.. Who from NSW could organise a Parade Lap for the AULRO crew? [emoji3]
A couple of litres of leaking oil from a parade of Land Rovers would make the opening laps very interesting. 👍
A great race, like I said, now on the World Stage.
Racing is racing, it is what it is, stuff happens, particularly in such a long race, to change results, some deserved, and just IMHO of course, some not deserved?......who cares really, as long as it's good racing, which today's racing definitely was. Case in point,...would the Porsche have won had the safety car not been called?, but as they say "That's Racing", which of course, it is.
A very good event, Pickles.
