Thread: NSW historical plate to Vic rego

I would think get an unregistered vehicle permit in NSW (you have to get it in the originating state), drive home, RWC, club permit.
OR flatbed, RWC, club permit...

Club Reg will require a RWC no matter what here in Vic now. Doesn’t matter if it is currently registered. Laws changed a few years back. Same old story - a minority of people rorting the system caused a big clamp down for all.

You’ll also need to be a paid up member of a club registered with VicRoads for Club Reg, have the Secretary sign that form and the Club Safety Officer sign another form when he sights the required pics etc which VicRoads make you take now. Not difficult once you’ve done it once. 👍

Oh, and if you’re joining a car club - check out to see if they have minimum requirements for attendance for you and/or your vehicle - this can be a PITA. Look for a different club if they do IMO.

In Vic the car has to be registered in your name interstate to be able to transfer it to full Vic reg with out a RWC .
Im pretty sure club rego is a whole different ball game .
So either be nice to the seller drive it back on their club plates and return them then get a RWC and you Vic club plates .
Or as Tom said NSW unregistered permit or flat bed it

What part of Melbourne are you from? The guy I’ve used in the past is fair.

Just an FYI,

In NSW, "H" plates are not transferable, so if a "H" vehicle is sold it effectively becomes "unregistered".

It is then up to the new owner to make a decision on what he/she wants to do.

Same applies in Vic. "non transferable"
Only major difference is vehicle has to be 30 years old in NSW and 25 years old in Vic, to qualify for CPS
and a RWC is required in Vic., but NSW (RMS) only require the Club Scrutineer to check the vehicle.
(However some NSW Clubs have their own policy where a RWC is required first up)

around caulfield but happy to travel for a fair inspection
