The other problem is of course is what Wild Life, birds reptiles etc etc etc will exist then? Nothing to feed on or water to drink. Reported that birds are falling out of the sky, not directly caused by the fires with burnt wings (??) but they are too weak to stay in the air & it appears the larger animals are devouring the smaller ones as there is nothing for them either.

Unfortunately animals have fallen victims to bush fires since the dawn of time.
Yes, it’s terrible, although it has happened forever.

Up here in previous summers the heat has had birds etc dropping from the trees. Those that can find water or food survive.

For example KI, has taken 12 years of no fuel controls to reach critical.

Many of the areas burning had large fires ~10-12 years ago.

Terrible. 28 people killed, more than 2000 structures destroyed, 10 million hectares burned, numerous businesses going down, millions of animals killed, maybe 1% cut from GDP - there has to be a better way.

Started re-reading Bruce Pascoe's Dark Emu today after seeing he had to defend his own property in the Gippsland.

Aboriginal land management practices prevented such hot burns for over 60,000 years, so maybe it's time we learnt some lessons from them.

I don’t think it’s that simple........sure let consult and include them but it’s a little more complicated these days. Has the current generation been actively managing the land and or have the skills and knowledge.

Controlled burns do go wrong........
