Well you are correct that China is one of the major polluters in the world but they are also one one of the top countries switching to green energy but are starting from a very low base - they will improve with time.
Yes we contribute only about 1% but that is no reason for us not to do our bit as one of the highest polluters per capita and yes like Chine we are also doing our bit by moving over to renewable energy.
I agree we are meeting our base targets but it comes down to the ethics of relying on credits rather than meeting revised targets. By doing this we are being ridiculed by others for our double standards, and our efforts to have China taken out of the developing economy category and moved to the developed economy category and so having tighter restrictions placed on them is undermined by our own double standards.
As a country we need to do our bit and try to influence the other big polluters that they need to do the same.
Putting heads in the sand like an ostrich and hoping the problem goes away helps no one and certainly not the planet.
