I have heard it described as "The River that flows upside down". But then, again our River Torrens ain't like a Chlorinated Swimming Pool either.

It is more of a Lake, as it has a concrete Weir at the outlet end where it's bottom is supposed to reach through to Portugal.[smilebigeye] The Azores somewhere.

If it wasn't for the Weir it would act as a "drain" for the Adelaide Hills, a number of Creeks that run seaward, the City of Adelaide & Suburbs like in the days of yore.

I love Orcas. Seen them from Ships mostly while near Canadia. South of WA has a congregation near a big sea mount you may have heard of. They hunt other whales at times. A Video taken is rather famous.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfMW4x-BFnA

Just reading of a few seeming to be attacking big white underbelly of yachts near Spain/Portugal . I suspect that might look like the belly of a whale from underneath. I wonder??

Rogue Orcs or hungry Orcas? I suspect they are hungry myself. A bit similar to a shark tasting boat motor, open water ocean shark types, which is clearly taste testing I think. With Tuna stocks in the area over fished and climatic changes possibly a factor ( my guesses only) My attempt to spearfishing for tuna in deep water might stop if I bring up this type of topic[bighmmm][thumbsupbig]

It will be interesting indeed to see more research done over the next few years

2020 would have seen global wide significant reductions in CO2 emissions

Will that drop transpire first to any atmospheric measurable change
And two slow any measurable warming

My hunch is a global recession won’t even be enough to limit human resource use in a significant way

Essentially - even if we are warming the planet
There is no foreseeable change in the global economic system that will make a significant difference



Learning to adapt will be the future as opposed to halting CO2 emission

Unfortunately, we've already done so much damage that one slow year doesn't make much difference, as the trends are already baked in for the next century.
We're already up 1.4 degrees in the last century and a 3 degree average rise is predicted by the end of this century.

I think the plan of running the NBN in fibre to everyone's house presents us with a golden opportunity to run a "purple pipe" as well, bringing recycled water to peoples houses for watering gardens, washing cars, flushing toilets, etc.
