Something unusual is happening here. Liquid stuff is falling on the ground. I'm trying to remember what it's called...

If an A380 has recently been overhead then it is probably illegal to dump the toilet contents until they get to the airport.

Yes we’ve all been warned for years. We think we are a minnow and that the short term economy is more important so can do whatever we like. It doesn’t work like that. If we don’t all get a lot greener there won’t be an economy of any kind. The denial simply has to stop.

“Short memory, must have a...” The Oils have been warning us for decades.

And our collective memories are now like social media news cycles!

I’m not blessed with kids, but if I was I’d be scared ****less for them. The next 10 years are going to be tough enough...

I heard a theory the other day about this.

In essence, it was that there is a glut of video recording devices (phones, etc), feeding a ravenous news media, on the look out for anything that may help to provide context to their "shock horror" reports.
Ask many long-term locals where these events are occurring, and you will often get told that previous events were actually worse. But the news media and the politicians are intent on labelling every event as being the worst on record (some of their records must be awfully short).
Where a few short years ago, a newsreader may mention a heavy rain event somewhere, you now get a ten minute news segment, complete with climatologist interviews and an inference that it's all the governments fault for not being better prepared.

We have been, and continue to be, guilty of damaging our planet. The problems will not be solved quickly, and creating a quasi-religion complete with fundamentalism and heresy, only muddies the waters.

sadly that doesn't explain why records at all ends of the scales are consistently being broken, year on year.

obviously something is afoot, whether it be man made or a natural cycle

I would have thought it was obvious that it was in our own interest to do what we need to do to minimise the effects on the planet and our fellow inhabitants.

sitting around arguing that either this or that is at fault won't help anyone or anything I would have thought.

The Ross River Dam is releasing approximately 2,000 cubic metres of water per second, but was at 247 per cent capacity at midnight.

Wishful thinking I realise, but if only that water was on the other side of the ranges & going inland the MD system would love it.

    What a waste!

The greedy wilful short-sighted denialist mismanagement of the Murray Darling has ignored a very clear environmental barometer for decades...if anyone thinks all the fish dying is bad, wait until there’s no flow at all and the new norm in summer temperatures is over 45 degrees.

I agree that we should all 'do our part' .. but not for the standardised reasons usually given. Maintain what the general consensus is or risk falling behind.
The major economies around the globe are all headed to renewable energy machinery, and if we lag behind, we'll get left wayyy behind.

But in terms of records being sent .. it's not quite what the mainstream alarmists continually shout out about.

Do a search on WHEN the Antarctic ice sheet region was at it's largest in total area .. ever!(in 50 years of recording) .. it's not all what we're reading.

.. and when head honcho weather scientists at NASA climate sciences make the comment .. "we're not really sure what's going on" and "not what we expected" .. you know the answer isn't as simple as the simpletons would have us believe.

Look up grand solar minimums for an idea of when things can get really bad. Nothing like the magnetic poles flipping to keep you on your toes!

Those who reckon that anything can be done about climate change by stopping our use of fossil fuels are kidding themselves. Those that reckon all our many hundreds of totally useless self serving bastards of politicians will fix it, are kidding themselves.
Those who think Oz shutting down coal fired power stations will set an example to the rest of the world are kidding themselves.
There are over a thousand new coal fired power stations being built right now around the world or are planned to be built in the near future.
What we can and must do is stop chucking our rubbish over the fence or into the oceans and thinking "out of sight, out of mind" is OK.
Plus of course the massive over breeding in some areas of the world must be stopped. More people more pollution.
And more western nations taxpayers will have to pay while allowing these 3rd world countries to continue polluting/breeding while they catch up to our standards of living.
"Global warming", the biggest scam ever perpetrated on the western taxpayer.... by the UN.
