1. When there are no practical EV's to do the task then you drive the best available substitute.
2. To visit and keep an eye on the diminishing areas of good quality environment, it's a sanity check.
3. Excessive travel.
4. Having one intelligent child that can keep up the good work is better than a tribe of boofheads to wreck everything.
5. Of course, but you do other things to compensate, e.g. plant trees, protest fossil fuel criminals, educate people.
6. Retrain, retire, repurpose. Most GM workers from Elizabeth are re-employed, albeit not in similar positions.
7. Nothing wrong with a modern home if designed correctly, data centres going 100% renewable etc, no need to give anything up except fossil fuels.
8. campfires are carbon neutral albeit high in particle emissions, but it's all going to burn anyway when it dries to a crisp in the current/next monster drought. Blankets are pretty good for keeping warm too.
9. Excessive consumption.

Everything a human experiences is part of a belief system. It’s how humans function.

Fundamental science still has an impact on the Feeling brain. It’s our feeling brain that feeds an interpretation to our thinking brain.

In the same way LR owners flock together, it’s one of the key drivers for social interest groups, political party alignments and all manner of things.

The feeling brain feeds the thinking brain and the thinking brain helps align it all.

In all my posts in this thread, I have not denied Climate change - only questioned the information data sets. I read a lot of information from multiple sources, including through our work enviro group whom are very connected to this research.

What I often find confusing is NASA. Many of their papers are contrary to other papers they release. And just as the models are considered “valid” a new input is discovered and the model changes again.

The questions I’m seeking to understand are:
What is the outcome if we do very little?
What is the outcome if we do a lot?
What is a “lot”?
What does it mean for the average person?

I think tombie's post has to be read in context. We all know Mike doesn't beat around the bush and he responded in a like manner.

As Mike said, I doubt there's anyone denying CC or that we are contributing to it. What is in question is how much is natural against man made.

Of all the people convinced that CC is man made, you are the only person I know who as actually put in any effort to minimize their footprint. Many seem to ram down the throats of the population that they have to change, without altering their lifestyle.

Science is always being questioned and corrected. The scientists that Joe Public trust the most are probably doctors, even they don't always get it right.

The data for temperature increase, I have no real dispute over.

What I’d like to understand more is the plateau for nearly 40 years post WW2.

The last 2 decades its reportedly climbed significantly. What has changed in 20 years to through it up so radically?

I did read in a NASA paper that we “can’t stop what has begun” and that it will take 1000s of years to reverse the trend.

Since you asked, I have 5KW of solar panels for approx. 10 yrs now, sold 2 petrol cars to buy and run my TD5 and now run my D3 on bio-diesel, have a 3000L rain water tank, (pro'ly too small, but to fit anything bigger in will mean excavating), have a grey water pumping system for the washing machine, plumbed the guest toilet for rain water, the others are a bit more difficult to do, don't have aircon, use fans instead, don't do my own composting but have a green bin, so the council does that for me, I don't fly long distance anymore.

However what you suggest is a Pyrrhic Premise, like saying the Allies could've won WW II by everyone fighting their own little war in their backyard, it is going to need govt involvement to make a real change. The same sort of trite argument of "freedom of choice" has been trotted out for smoking, obesity, etc.

Agree. Neither is climate change, it will occur regardless.

However, some believe they can tame gravity (Squirrel suits, sky divers, young kids who think they can fly). Others believe we should keep our feet firmly on the ground.

Closer to topic - what’s your average PV daily yield at the moment? I have a 5kW system and would be interesting to compare.
