Variation of these means we’re comparing Red Apples with Green Apples. Both Apples although different.

There have been 2 periods at least where this has occurred - it also occurred in the global climate measures.

Put simply - If the old data is converted to the new format the results change. If those charts had standardised data over the life of the data it would be far better.

I use statistical measure significantly at work and without telling any lies or false data I can make my messaging show.

Whilst not denying anything it’s highly probable that this can also be messaged to drive Economic and Industrial change. Doesn’t need false data to be able to present a message.

Would just be nice if the absolute, real, raw information was available for the public.
I agree whole heartedly with all you've said here.

The way I used to deal with 'infallible' fisheries models (non trawl, non fin fish - long life) was to get the proponents to run them backwards to predict the (observed, data rich, REAL) past.

It never went well at all.

NASA says its caused by the earth warbling its way around the sun and getting to close
when it wanders closer, we get what we have now
when it wanders away, we get an ice age
    sounds about right to me

Makes sense as it isn't as though the two bodies are fixed in space by space nails/bolts/screws as a constant.

Not any more............... the nails / bolts / screws never made it on site and have all fallen out of the tradies' utes and made holes in your tyres.

That's why the reserve bank has worries about inflation!

There does seem to be a 100,000 year variation in the pattern of the Earth's orbit around the sun, leading to increased glaciation. However, humans haven't been around for 100,000 years, so that doesn't tell us anything useful about human involvement in the current situation. Also, our current problem is the opposite of glaciation, it's warming. So that variation may not provide any explanation of our current global warming.
