I only have time to read the threads that have the potential to interest me, preferably from contributors whose knowledge has interested & educated me over many years.

One learns to be discerning - probably comes with advancing years, and having less time to waste on crap.

I assumed that a "General Chat" topic with 14 posts in one day may hold something interesting to read while I wait for my evening meal to be served - but I was incorrect.

I'm sorry that I've missed your "cultural" threads Zeros, and I'm hoping that you have almost certainly gathered that I have no idea what you are posting about mate :).

In any case, if your posts did breach the rules it is no wonder that they were removed - it isn't "facebook" (thank goodness).

AFAIAC this thread may be discontinued HERE.

Unfortunately, discussions on these (and other controversial ) subjects have never been able to stay on subject. People seem not to be able to accept that others might not share their opinion and go to great lengths to convince them otherwise. A swing away from the original subject and "playing the man not the ball" eventuates and it goes downhill from there.

If it were truly only controversial, it wouldn’t be an issue. It’s far more serious than that.

and therein lies the problem. If it's more serious than being controversial then this is not the place to discuss it.

No one denies you have the right to express your opinion but this just is not the place to do it for certain topics. If you don't want to sign up for Current Affairs then you basically agree not to discuss those sorts of topics here at all.

I don't think people are coming here to have their hearts and minds changed. That's what change dot org is for.

All I can say is none of this is worth getting upset about and by 'this' I mean the responses/opinions by folk you don't know that you may object to, not the things you care about.

If something is heading down a path you don't like then disengage, leave it be.
