I wonder how many of these still have polling places? A few weeks ago there was someone in western Qld complaining that they had a 300km drive to the nearest polling place. The polling place that has traditionally operated only 6km from here has not run for about ten years - the old bloke who was in charge of it ever since I moved here (and long before, I suspect) finally died.

Went to Norman Park State School at 2.00 pm to vote. Walked straight in, no queueing. The roll clerk said it was a madhouse from 8.00am to noon. Sausage and onion was $2.50. There was a queue at the sizzle stand. More party workers standing around than voters.

So what's on for election night dinner?
We're having a rack of lamb and lamb chops slow cooked on the smaller of our home-made smokers here.

Forget the democracy sausage, here's our lamb and t-bone going in the smoker at Maleny for election night dinner. I'm drooling just looking at it.
