No, it is not actually the same one that we are discussing - but a very similar looking seed. The leaves and habit of the plant are quite different. The one we are talking about has feathery looking leaves and is a creeper, where this one has broad leaves and individual plants. But looking at the description, it is the one from my childhood, but definitely not the one here.
As far as walking on them in bare feet, or cycling - no difference! This one is more coastal, the one discussed above is more inland.
