Wasn't this the reason that screw caps were recently fitted to Wine Bottles?
Trying to find a pig when you had a bottle of Grange Hermitage just busting to be opened would have caused much mental stress trying to locate a Conventional Cork screw.
So you grabbed a pig, but they found that twisting it clockwise to insert it caused untold facial scars & injuries from the Trotters to the bottle Openers..
Removing it should have been a breeze after the wine had been consumed but I suspect the corkscrew was a bit limp by then.
Just sayin.[bigrolf]
There once was a bloke who was born with a corkscrew wanger. He spent years looking for a woman with a corkscrew whatnot. They were both absolutely over the moon about meeting their desired one until they tried to get it on and found she was a left hand thread.[bigwhistle]
When I tried opening a 25-yo bottle of Grange last week, the cork disintegrated. I tried again with an Ah-So cork puller but all that did was push the remainder of the cork into the bottle. [bigsad]

Are you sure this is in Trivia. As I have yet to try even a corked Grange after buying at least 5 bottles as presents I feel it should be in GRUMPY or VERY VERY GRUMPY thread.
How did it taste after the sour note of the cork was forgotten? Your Lucky Lucky man p38arover[biggrin] (hope it was great)
No, the cork may have been in the bottle but it was not corked. That was our second bottle of Grange (the first was on my 60th birthday) and none of us who tried them were that impressed by them.
My BIL was given a Grange quite a few years ago. On a special occasion he decided to open it so, in sympathy, I supported with an offering of an '89 Bin 707.
The verdict was that the 707 was as good, if not nicer, than the big G.
